Rules of Sri Suktam Sadhana
Sri Suktam is a transformative Sadhana. Do not miss the once-in-a-lifetime chance to do it under the guidance of Om Swami this year. It will be a 17-day Sadhana beginning from 1 Nov.’24 (Diwali night) till 17 Nov.’24. For these 17 days, yagna with Swami ji will be streamed live from Sri Badrika Ashram at 5.15 a.m. IST.
Here are the basic rules and regulations of the Sri Suktam Sadhana
- It can be performed by anyone over nine years old (male or female). You do not need any initiation or special permission to do it.
- Even if you are uninitiated or follow some other spiritual mentor/Guru, you’re most welcome to do this Sadhana.
- Women can begin and continue the Sri Suktam Sadhana during menstruation.
- Complete abstinence must be practiced throughout the sadhana.
- If you have a job that involves travel, you can still practice this Sadhana as long as you manage your morning and evening routine for sixteen days.
- During the Sadhana, maintain a strict vegetarian diet (without onion and garlic). Meat, eggs, and seafood are strictly forbidden. Dairy is okay, but avoid bakery products, cheese, and food supplements with animal derivatives.
- If you are on medication, take your physician’s advice before following food restrictions or discontinuing medication due to animal derivatives in them.
- Bathe and wear fresh clothes before japa and yagna. Ideally, red clothes are recommended, but any colour will do.
- Sit cross-legged on a prayer mat (asana) for your japa.
- You can chant at least one round (108 times) of the mantra or a maximum of 10 rounds.
- Cover the asana with a red cloth. It is best to use an asana made of a blanket.
- It is best to face North, East or Northeast while doing the yagna.
- If you miss any day, Sri Suktam Sadhana will be compromised. You will then have to wait for a year to do this Sadhana.
- Yagna is a crucial part of Sri Suktam Sadhana. However, if you cannot do it, chant the previous evening’s mantra 216 times in the morning. This is not ideal, but let your inability to do the yagna not stop you from doing the sadhana altogether. If you can ado the yagna just once, do so on the last day of the Sadhana (17 Nov).
- Set aside a tiny charitable offering (Dakshina) every morning and donate it for a charitable cause or at a Devi temple at the end of 16 day-Sadhana.
