If I cannot chant Lalita Sahasranaam, can I still perform the Sadhana?
In this blog post learn why not knowing the Sahasranaam should not stop you from doing this sadhana.
“Kaun kehta hai bhagwan aate nahin, tum meera ke jaise bulate nahin”.
(Who says the divine does not come? You never call out with the same love and sentiment as Meera.’)
This traditional bhajan about Bhakti saint Meera’s strong connection with Sri Krishna reveals the true essence of devotion. When a devotee calls upon with sincerity, they can experience closeness with the deity; the divine runs to shower love on those who call out with devotion.
Worship the Goddess with Love
The same is true of Lalita Sahasranaam, which you may not know how to chant. Doesn’t the mother respond to an infant's babbling and pitiful cries? The child may not know how to address her, but the mother responds to love and longing. Therefore, is it essential to learn Ma Lalita’s thousand names to perform jap and yagna? The answer is—NO. Devotion and sincerity are the only prerequisites you require.
Visualise Mother Goddess’ Divine Form
Even if you don’t know her many names, just visualise the beautiful form of Ma Lalita while doing Jap and Yagna. Imagine she is seated most gloriously before you. With visualisation you experience her nearness and deepen your connection.
You can also watch the Devi Meditation in the App (part of the Lalita Sahasranaam Sadhana) where Om Swami explains the first few verses of Lalita Sahasranaam, helpful in visualising Ma Lalita’s form.
In Sanatan Dharm, it is said that the divine looks for our devotional sentiment. And indeed, devotion is the only offering we can ever make to the Supreme energy sustaining this creation.
As you spend more time with the beautiful names of Ma Lalita, you may naturally feel inclined to learn the Sahasranaam and its meaning in future.
For now, you can participate wholeheartedly and fearlessly in the Lalita Sahasranaam Sadhana (26 Sept. 25-15 Nov. ‘25) and receive her divine grace
If completing the full sadhana is not possible, no problem. You can listen to and do the Jap of Lalita Sahasranaam Stotram on Lalita Panchami. Sign up for Sadhana App today!
