Sanatan Dharma: The Eternal Path of Truth, Righteousness, and Action

Sanatan Dharma: The Eternal Path of Truth, Righteousness, and Action

"Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudha Vadanti."
                          -Rig veda: 1.164.46
("Truth is One; the wise call it by various names.")

This verse from the Rig veda reflects the profound philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, the oldest region of the world : The truth is singular, but the paths to attain it can be diverse.

Sanatan Dharma goes beyond geographical boundaries. It is not limited to any one sect, person, or scripture, but is universal in essence.

Unlike other religious traditions, Sanatana Dharma is not founded by any single prophet or confined to a specific text. Instead, it is a detailed system of spiritual practices, philosophy, and guidelines that help individuals understand themselves and live in harmony with the world.

Sanatan Dharma—The Meaning

The term 'Sanatan' means eternal, and 'Dharma' refers to the eternal law governing the structure and movement of the entire universe. Sanatan Dharma is not merely a tradition of rituals or worship practices; it is a way of life that inspires individuals to adopt values such as truth, righteousness, non-violence, compassion, service, and devotion. It guides humanity to discover the Supreme Truth that resides within, through the soul’s independent journey.

Sanatan Dharma is rooted in two core elements — Satya (truthful living) and Dharma (duty and righteousness). When a person adopts both these elements in their conduct, they naturally become righteous, and compassionate. Through the pursuit of truth and dharma, one can make their personal, social, and spiritual life meaningful.
