Upanishads – The Spiritual Core of Sanatan Dharma

Since they form the last section of Vedas, the Upanishads are known as Vedanta, the concluding philosophical teachings. They contain the essence of the Vedas. The core theme of the Upanishads is philosophical inquiry into the nature of truth and the various methods to arrive at it. Broadly 108 upanishads are available to us today. Many more existed in the past. Among them,10 on which Adi Shankaracharya wrote commentaries are considered very important. They are: Ishavasya, Kena, Katha, Prasna, Mundaka, Mandukya, Taittriya, Aitareya, Chandogya and Brihadaranyaka

Did you know?

Some of the famous mantras you chant every day are derived from the Upanishads.

‘Om purnamada, purnamidam.’ (Ishavasya Upanishad)

‘Asto ma sadgamaya..’ (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad)

The Vedas and Upanishads are not just ancient texts—They are timeless sources of Sanatan wisdom that help us understand ourselves and the world. Even today, they guide us toward a life of peace, purpose, and deeper meaning
