Blessings and Benefits of Ma Kushmanda’s Sadhana
Ma Kushmanda is the fourth Nav Durga form, thus revered on the fourth day of Navratri. Just as her light removed the darkness of the cosmos, her compassionate gaze removes inner conflicts, bringing harmony and balance to our lives. She helps us go through a journey of inner purification.
Ma Kushmanda is nurturer and purifier, inspiring us to pursue sacred knowledge and dedicate ourselves to Sadhana. Her grace transforms every action into an act of worship and progresses us on our spiritual path. Ma Kushmanda’s divine radiance erases the divide between worldly life and spirituality, helping the Sadhak experience an uninterrupted flow of devotion.
In her presence, everything becomes an offering, and life itself becomes a sacred expression of her grace.
Ma Kushmanda’s Majestic Form
Visualisation is a powerful spiritual practice. You can meditate on Ma Kushmanda’s form by focusing on the following aspects.
She represents the power of creation and is called ‘Jagatprasutaye’—the mother who gave birth to the Universe. Her radiance lights up the ten directions. Seated most majestically on a tiger, Ma Kushmanda holds sacred objects in her eight arms: a kamandalu, lotus, rudraksha mala, bow, arrow, chakra, mace, and a jar of eternal nectar.
Her dazzling smile removes inner and outer darkness, filling the cosmos with wisdom and light.
Benefits of Worshipping Ma Kushmanda
Being the divine creator, Ma Kushmanda is closely linked to life, including conception, fertility, and childbirth. She is symbolically represented by a nourishing pumpkin gourd, signifying life and growth. Therefore, devotees can please her with their simple acts of worship, service and compassion.
Ma Kushmanda’s sadhana brings these blessings:
- 🌸She heals and eases ailments.
- 🌸Her radiant smile nourishes and bestows abundance, power, and overall wellness.
- 🌸She grants the gift of good health and vitality, ensuring a joyful and energetic life.
- 🌸As a deity associated with enhancing Ojas (vital energy), she delays ageing and extends life.

Ma Kushmanda and the Kundalini Connection
The creator of multiverses, Ma Kushmanda rules over the heart centre (Anahata Chakra). A sadhak should meditate upon this chakra while chanting Ma Kushmanda’s mantra with devotion on the fourth day of Navdurga Sadhana. This practice raises the seeker’s consciousness and makes him more receptive to the higher cosmic truths.
Tantric Invocation
As per texts such as Durga Tantra and Vamkeshvara tantra, the Tantric form of Devi Kushmanda is invoked as Kapalika, Saptashati and Bhadrakali. Chanting her mantra releases the devotees from the endless cycle of desire, gratification, and disillusionment.
May the grace of Devi Kushmanda descend upon you!
