The Blessings and Benefits of Ma Chandraghanta’s Sadhana
Devi Chandraghanta invoked on the third day of Nav Durga Sadhana. She is a fierce warrior, yet as gentle as the moonlight; her worship removes physical and mental suffering, bringing inner balance.
The moon is associated with ‘manas’ or mind. Our thoughts take us on a roller-coaster of emotions: happiness, sadness, anger, fear, excitement, and others. These emotions are like the changing phases of the waning and waxing moon. That is why the mind is called ‘Chanchala manas’ (the restless or playful mind). The moon on Devi Chandraghanta’s head shines the light of consciousness upon us, steadying our minds for self-reflection and peace.
Her guiding light protects the devotees from negativity, offering them safety and inspiration.
Maa Chandraghanta and the Kundalini Connection
After Ma Shailaputri, who governs the Mooladhara, and Ma Brahmacharini, who governs the Svadhishana Chakra, Devi Chandraghanta takes us further upwards as she governs the Solar Plexus (Manipura Chakra) in our body.
The Solar Plexus helps us manage any situation with calm self-control. Devi's Chandraghanta’s form shows her as intense, strong, loud, bold, and even terrifying. At the same time, she is also gentle, loving, graceful, endearing, joyful, warm, kind, and devoted.
Ma Chandraghanta reminds us that even in difficult circumstances, we can always act with grace, love, compassion, and composure.
Chanting her mantra on the Manipura chakra removes physical and mental suffering, and supports spiritual growth.
Her Tantric Invocation
Devi Chandraghanta is invoked in Tantra as Chandi, Bhadra, and Subhaga.
The name ‘Subhaga’ means the one who is worshiped (bhaga) by all blessed beings for dharmic pursuits (su).
Occurring in the Lakshmi Tantra, the Tripura Upanishad of the Rig Veda, and Shaiva Agama Texts, Ma Chandraghanta’s tantric mantra has profound energy. Sadhaks interested in pursuing Tantra Sadhana are encouraged to do a Purushcharana with her Tantric mantra.
Here are some some blessings of Ma Chandraghanta’s sadhana:
🌸 Good fortune and prosperity
🌸 Wisdom
🌸 Detachment
🌸 Courage and the power of resolve (Sankalpa Shakti)
🌸 Liberation
May the grace of Maa Chandraghanta descend upon you!

Nav Durga Sadhana
In the potent Nav Durga Sadhana, Ma Chandraghanta is invoked as the third form of Ma Durga. She symbolises our inner power that helps us overcome difficult circumstances with a steady mind.
The Sanskrit word ‘Durg’ means a ‘fort.’ The one who seeks Devi Ma is ever-protected by the strongest of forts —her grace and protection. She becomes the Sadhak’s Durg, a fort that would never fail them.
